Behind the Scenes: My Creative Process for Client Projects

Behind the Scenes: My Creative Process for Client Projects

When we work together, you aren’t just hiring someone to “build a website” or “make a graphic.” You’re hiring a translator. My role is to take your goals—the ones that keep you up at night or get you excited for the future, and translate them into a digital language that your audience understands.

Because I work across animation, web design, branding, and more, my process is designed to be fluid, transparent, and, above all, purposeful. Here is a look at how I move from a rough idea to a finished, high-impact project.

1. The Deep Dive: Understanding the “Why”

Before I touch a single line of code or open a design program, we talk. I start by uncovering the primary objective of the project. Once I understand that goal, I determine the best tools for the job. Maybe you don’t just need a website; maybe you need a custom animation to explain a complex concept, or graphic design that establishes a more professional “first impression.”

2. The Blueprint: Setting the Stage

Before I dive into the “heavy lifting,” I often share a simplified version of my plan, and ensure we’re on the same page on what intent of the work is. It’s much easier to adjust the “map” before we start driving than it is to turn the car around halfway through the trip. It also gives us both confidence we’re moving forward in the right direction.

3. The Build: Transparent Collaboration

The building phase is where the “translation” really happens. I view this as a collaborative partnership rather than a solo mission.

  • Transparency: I build in the open. I’ll provide frequent updates so you’re never wondering about the status of your project.
  • The “Experience” Milestone: I share the work once it reaches a stage where it can be experienced as intended. For a website, that means the buttons click and the layout flows; for an animation, it means the timing feels right. Every project is a little bit different, and I want to ensure you feel that quality from the moment you experience it.

4. The Secret Sauce: Meaningful Translation

The most important part of my process is the ability to take “messy” ideas and refine them into a cohesive brand.

You might tell me, “I want it to feel energetic but professional,” or “I want people to feel calm when they book an appointment.” My specialty is knowing exactly which video cuts, which animation storyline, or which website layout translates those feelings into a reality. I bridge the gap between your vision and your user’s experience.

5. Delivery & Beyond

Because every project, from a quick graphic to a full-scale WordPress build, is unique, the project will always be tailored to you. The goal isn’t just to finish a project. It’s to ensure that the final product is a tool that actually works for you, and your users.

Do you have a goal in mind that I could help with? I’d love to hear about it, and see how we can bring that goal to life.
